The Alzheimer Society of Newfoundland and Labrador is committed to advocating on behalf of individuals with Alzheimer’s Disease on global issues that affect a number of people within the province.
We bring issues forward to groups or organizations to ensure individuals with the disease have a voice on issues that affect their quality of life.
One of our recent accomplishments is obtaining coverage for the medications for the treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease.
On September 1, 2006, Newfoundland and Labradorians received access to the medications for the treatment of Alzheimer’s and related diseases.
Who has Access?
The government program provides reimbursement to those who are currently utilizing the Income Support and the Seniors Drug Subsidy Program.
What medications are included in the coverage?
The medications included in this coverage is Exelon, Aricept, and Reminyl.
Who can prescribe the medications?
All physicians in the province can prescribe the medications.
