Safely Home-Alzheimer Wandering Registry One of the predominant characteristics of Alzheimer`s Disease is wandering.Individuals afflicted with Alzheimer`s Disease may no longer recognize familiar places, or remember one’s own home address or location. The Safely Home Registry allows individuals to register their loved ones whom are suffering from the disease.Safely home is a partnership of national and provincial police forces, such as the RCMP and the RNC, and the Alzheimer Society of Canada. The mission of this program is to assist in the safe return home for those who may be lost.Information registered through the national registry assists police when locating a missing person with Alzheimer`s Disease. So far the Safely Home program has been highly successful across the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. Combining our efforts with the RCMP and RNC will help to raise awareness about the disease and hopefully reduce caregiver stress.
